Department of Design Bachelor of Science and Master of Fine Arts Exhibition

This exhibition is the culmination of the students' design experience at The Ohio State University. Every year the Department of Design hosts an exhibition featuring the senior theses of the undergraduates from each of the three programs: Industrial Design, Interior Design and Visual Communication Design. This year, for the first time, the exhibition will also include projects from select MFA students from the design research and development, and digital animation and interactive media concentrations.

The Department of Art Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Projects Exhibition presents the work of graduating art majors working in a wide range of media and approaches. Projects reveal ambitious bodies of work developed during the students' course of study in areas such as art and technology, ceramics, glass, painting and drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.

Wonder + Work =

Wonder + Work = features 2- and 3-dimensional gathered fabric works and installations by Columbus-based artist Sue Cavanaugh. Using organic cotton and repurposing cloth, found clothing and linens, Cavanaugh presents hand-stitched pieces that are created using variations on the Japanese dying technique of shibori.

Three In Like Authority: 2013 Department of Art Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition

Focusing on the theme of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, the 2013 Arts Scholars Juried Exhibition features work from high–achieving Ohio State University students from all years of study who share a joint interest in the arts, including music, visual arts, design, dance and theatre.

Constructing James Castle

Constructing James Castle features selections from the art of James Castle (1899-1977), a self-trained, deaf artist who spent his life in rural Idaho. This selection focuses mostly on works that demonstrate the impact of Castle's 5-year education with the Gooding (Idaho State) School for the Deaf and Blind between 1910–1915.

Mark Beyer: With/Without Text

With/Without Text is the first in-depth retrospective of the work of comic artist Mark Beyer. It is, in fact, the first major exhibition of Beyer's work ever to be held in the United States. This broad collection features more than 70 of Beyer's original works, including comic strips, silkscreens, paintings in reverse created on glass paperweights, as well as sheets of plexiglass and original commissioned artwork for concert posters and record and magazine covers. A series of MTV animated shorts will also be on view, along with many other posters, prints, mini comics, books and ephemera.

VSA Ohio's Accessible Expressions Ohio 2012

Started in 1996, Accessible Expressions Ohio is an adjudicated, statewide exhibition and tour of visual art for artists of all ages with disabilities. This professional development opportunity helps raise awareness about art and disability by presenting the art in inclusive settings.
